ASEAN Strengthens Energy Security Plans

MANILA – The ongoing Middle East crisis has reignited concerns about Southeast Asia’s reliance on imported oil, with more than half of ASEAN’s crude imports coming from the region. As a result, ASEAN energy ministers are considering ways to boost fuel security, regional power integration, and renewable energy development. The decision underscores growing attempts to decrease exposure to external supply disruptions while also developing a more resilient and diverse energy system in the region.
