Record Palm Oil Inventories Expected to Weigh on CPO Prices

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s palm oil inventories increased 24.5% month on month to a record 3.51 million tonnes in September 2026, increasing concerns about the downward pressure on crude palm oil (CPO) prices. The expanding stockpile may put prices under pressure in the short term, but greater export demand and a predicted reduction in production by year-end may help reduce excess supply. The changing market conditions may also have an impact on plantation enterprises and palm oil mill operations, particularly in terms of operational budgets, maintenance activities, and spending on industrial waste management services.
