Softbank Eyes USD 50 Billion Investment in Malaysia’s AI and Data Centre Industries

KUALA LUMPUR – SoftBank, a Japanese technology investment organization, is considering investments of up to USD 50 billion in Malaysia, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI), advanced technology, and data center expansion. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim disclosed that SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son has identified possible investment targets in Kuching, Sarawak, and Peninsular Malaysia. The proposed investments have the potential to boost Malaysia’s position as a regional technology and data center hub, as well as promote industrial expansion and demand for energy infrastructure.
