PORT KLANG – Westports Holdings Bhd is moving forward with its Westports 2 expansion project, which intends to quadruple the port’s annual container handling capacity from 14 million to 28 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in the long run. The business maintains its low single-digit container throughput growth forecast for 2026, while continuing to work to lower its environmental footprint. As part of its decarbonisation efforts, Westports has received 60 electric trucks and implemented green electricity rates to promote cleaner port operations. The expansion and electrification efforts may raise demand for maritime environmental services, industrial waste management, and regulatory compliance as port operations.
