
KUALA LUMPUR – Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is reviewing its supervisory and regulatory frameworks to give financial institutions more leeway in taking on higher, responsibly managed risks for climate and energy transition projects, Governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour announced at the JC3 Journey to Zero conference. Speaking to industry leaders, the central bank governor emphasised that, while cash is available, modifying regulatory capital requirements and risk-appetite standards is crucial to releasing long-term commercial finance for investable green infrastructure.
