UNITED STATES – Global electric vehicle (EV) sales fell 2% to 2.15 million units in September 2026, capping a six-month streak of increase, according to Benchmark Mineral Intelligence. The reduction was caused by lower demand in North America and China, where sales plummeted 44% and 18% respectively. Meanwhile, Europe had its best month on record, selling nearly 600,000 electric vehicles thanks to consumer demand and government measures. The mixed result illustrates significant disparities among major automotive markets, potentially influencing car manufacturing, supply networks, and investment in electric mobility.
